Building resilience through effective communication

I’ve been reflecting on how much our ability to communicate impacts our resilience, especially during tough times. Recently, I encouraged a client to practice active listening in conversations, which has helped them feel more supported and understood. I’d love to hear how others incorporate communication skills into building resilience.

You’re spot on about communication’s role in resilience — i once had a client use humor to diffuse tense situations, and it worked wonders for their stress levels. As they say, laughter is the shortest distance between two people — just like good communication.

I totally relate to your point on active listening; i once led a group where we practiced summarizing what others said before responding… It really helped create a space for deeper understanding and built trust during challenging discussions. Have you found any particular techniques that resonate with your clients?

It’s interesting how communication can really shift our mindset in tough times. I once worked with a client who used simple ‘I feel’ statements to express their emotions during difficult conversations, and it made a huge difference in how they connected with others. I do wonder if there’s a balance between being honest and maintaining positivity though — sometimes, saying too much can overwhelm rather than build resilience.
