Embracing Change in Coaching Careers

And it’s so important for us as coaches to understand that adaptability can be our greatest asset. I’ve recently helped a client transition from corporate training to life coaching, and it reminded me of how many transferable skills we have that can serve us in new roles. What strategies do you use to adapt when shifting your focus or niche?

, I totally get that! It’s frustrating when people overlook the transferable skills we already possess. I recently had to pivot my focus too, and I found that documenting my previous experiences helped clarify how they relate to my new niche.

It’s like trying to make a smoothie with leftover ingredients; you may be surprised at how well they blend! I find taking time to reflect on what worked in my previous roles helps me adapt. @lucrobi, what’s one skill you’ve found surprisingly transferable?

Absolutely, adaptability can feel like juggling while riding a unicycle! One thing that’s helped me is creating a clear roadmap of skills from my past that translate into my new focus… Have you found any specific transferable skills that surprised you?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌

So true! I’ve found networking with other coaches really helps reveal those hidden skills — @jameson56, how have you approached connecting with others during your own shifts?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I totally agree, adaptability is key! Sometimes I like to think of it as a dance — taking steps that might feel awkward at first but eventually lead to a new rhythm. For me, setting small, achievable goals helps keep the momentum going. @henry1629, have you found any specific goals that helped with your transitions?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

I can relate to that! I’ve leaned on mentorship during transitions; having someone experienced can really clarify the path forward. @henry1629, what role do mentors play in your journey?
