This role is a great match if you’re passionate about sports, enjoy mentoring youth, and want flexible work with the chance to grow.

Would you take this job? Does the mix of flexible scheduling, perks, and hands-on coaching experience make it appealing—or would you wait for a more permanent, higher-paying role?

At $15/hr, I’d only bite if it’s super close to me or I’m just looking to get more coaching reps — travel and prep time make that rate rough. If it’s 2–3 evenings a week with weekend games and they provide gear and a set curriculum, it could be fun. Do they cover certifications or mileage?

At $15/hr I’d only bite if they cover certs/background check and travel, because youth coaching always turns into extra unpaid hours. If it’s truly just a couple practices plus games and you want experience, it’s fine, but I’d push for $20+ — how many hours a week and how many kids per coach?

I did a 7v7 season at $16/hr and it only worked because fields were 10 minutes away, they comped my USA Football cert, and there was a small game-day stipend. Ask if they’ll do a flat per-practice rate or guarantee minimum hours so prep and parent chats aren’t free.

I’d ask for the season calendar and what counts as paid time; last spring I tracked it and a ‘1-hour’ practice was really closer to 2 with setup, parent questions, and breakdown, which nuked the rate. If they’ll pay mileage or a small game-day stipend, $15 can work, especially if the fields are within 15 minutes.
